BELLEVILLE, Ill. - MetroLink's new $52 million plan to secure its rider platforms will be the focus of a public open house later Tuesday.Washington park Metro Station just off Kingshighway and three others in Illinois will be the first to get the security upgrades. Metro officials say the changes known as the 'Secure Platform Plan,' are a key component of their efforts to increase ridership.Only ticketed riders will be able to get through the new gates. There will be no more open train platforms. Eight-foot high fencing will surround all the access points to the platforms.The goal is to transform the original open access MetroLink platform system into a closed platform system with centralized and secured customer service entrances at all MetroLink stations. Crews responding to garage fire in south St. Louis

ST. LOUIS - Emergency crews are at the scene of a garage fire in south St. Louis Tuesday morning. Our Bommarito Automotive Group SkyFOX helicopter was flying over the area located on the 3900 block of Virginia Avenue, where white smoke can be seen coming from the home as firefighters are getting control of the flames. It's the 100th anniversary of aerial refueling.A U.S. Air Force squadron from Scott Air Force Base and an air refueling wing of the Illinois Air National Guard will perform flyovers all across the state of Illinois. It's part of the major reorganization of the archdiocese of St. Louis announced last month.St. Rose Philippine Duchesne is one of three catholic schools in the Florissant area that make up All Saints Academy. Each campus has kindergarten through 8th grade, with a total of 527 students. Patients on new Eli Lilly drug lost 24% of their weight in trials

(The Hill) -- A new Eli Lilly experimental drug has helped patients lose 24 percent of their weight, according to new mid-stage clinical trial results. The results, released on Monday, followed 338 adults, nearly 52 percent of whom were men, who were obese or overweight and had either received Eli Lilly’s retatrutide injection or a placebo treatment. Eli Lilly’s retatrutide is a weekly injection that changes the way patients eat, which leads to the patient having a decreased appetite by mimicking certain hormones in the gut, according to CNBC. Retatrutide is also comparable to Eli Lilly’s other obesity drug, Mounjaro. Mounjaro, which can also be used for Type 2 diabetes treatment, helped patients lose 21 percent of their body weight in a clinical trial, CNBC reported.   The phase two trial saw patients who took a 12-milligram dose of retatrutide lose 17.5 percent of their weight after 24 weeks, compared with patients who lost 1.6 percent of their b...
